
The 5th Asia Science Technology Academia Advisory Group (ASTAAG) Meeting was held successfully on 17th of November, 2017 in Putrajaya, Malaysia and through WebEX meeting system.
The 5th Asia Science Technology Academia Advisory Group (ASTAAG) Meeting was held successfully on 17th of November, 2017 in Putrajaya, Malaysia. Six members participated in Putrajaya, other four members, the secretariat of the ASTAAG and Mr. Timothy Wilcox from UNISDR, Bangkok joined the meeting through WebEX meeting system.
Hosted by Mr. Rajib Shaw, this meeting focused on four main topics. Firstly, the science technology conference in Japan will be held on 23-15 November, 2017. Co-hosted by ISDR, ICSU, IRDR and SCJ, this conference will include seven plenary sessions, four break out sessions and three poster panels. Around 250 participants will be invited. Guidelines of incorporation of ST in national platform and periodic ST synthesis status report are expected after this conference.
Secondly, the concept notes and draft agenda for 2018 ASTCDRR were reviewed and approved. 1-2 ASTAAG members will be in charge of a session of the 2018 ASTCDRR. No side event will be held for this conference. A review of the work of ASTAAG will be organized after the ASTCDRR.
Besides, Mr. Timothy Wilcox introduced the 2018 AMCDRR will be held on 16-19 July 2018, in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. ASTAAG can contribute to featured events and thematic events.
Finally, the chair and co-chair of ASTAAG will draft a framework of case studies for the 12 actions identified in Bangkok Conference. Each member/ identified author will contribute 1-2 case study. The case studies would be voluntary commitments from the ASTAAG members. The publication of ASTAAG good practice document will be released in the 2018 ASTCDRR,
